Kids Room Decor – My Tips and Tricks

Kids room is one of the hardest design projects because you need to find a way to satisfy their wishes and still keep everything nicely decorated. It has to be warm and comfortable but also functional at the same time. Here are some things I believe are very important when it comes to kids room decor.

Kids Room Decor – My Tips and Tricks

Furniture. The first thing you need to buy is a good quality bed and mattress. If you want your kids to get good night’s sleep, this is the first step you need to make. Place bedside drawer next to the bed, so they have somewhere to put their lamp, a book or night beverage. Try picking furniture that can grow old with them. Buying a beautiful sleep house can be a great gift for a 3-year-old, but you will probably need to buy her a new one when she is 12. Choose a simple wooden bed that is great for kids of all ages, and decorate it with colorful bed sheets and pillows. For example, if your little one loves Hello Kitty products, buy some Hello Kitty sheets or plush dolls. She will love it!

Space. When it comes to kids room decor, plan your design according their age. 2-year-old doesn’t have the same requirements like 13-year-old. If you have a toddler, you will need to give them enough floor space and if you have a teen you’ll need to get a study desk. Let your kids help you with the decorating, they are the ones who will be living there. Give them a chance to express their own personality and let them choose colors and accessories.

Walls. Nothing in kids room should be boring, not even walls. Paint them in warm colors or add wall decals to make it creative. Try waking their creative spirit by painting one wall with chalkboard paint. You can even string a rope or a wire from one wall to another and create a perfect place for displaying your kid’s masterpieces.

Storage. If there is one thing you will need in this room, it is a storage space. Kids pile and pile stuff, and you are left thinking where to put it all. Think ahead and make sure you create enough storage space. You don’t have to compromise on the look of the whole room. There are so many options out there, so you’ll surely find the one that is perfect for the overall design of the kids room.
