This holiday provides the perfect foundation for teaching the little ones about embracing our feelings and cultivating love and kindness. Luckily there are plenty of fun activities to make this Valentine’s Day memorable for kids. Discover some delightful Valentine’s Day activities for kids that will also be fun for the entire family!

  1. DIY Valentine’s Day Cards: First thing first, Valentine’s Day is not complete without some beautiful cards. Encourage kids to unleash their creativity by making handmade Valentine’s Day cards for their friends and family. Provide them with colorful paper, stickers, glitter, and markers, and watch as they craft unique expressions of love and appreciation. To make it even more interesting make sure to tell them some puns they can use. My favorites are: “I love you berry much.” or “You’re one in a melon.”
  2. Love-themed Cooking Class: You know what they say; Love goes through the stomach. Get kids in the kitchen and engage them in a love-themed cooking class. You can choose simple recipes like heart-shaped pancakes, strawberry milkshakes, fruit skewers or even chocolate-dipped strawberries. You can even bake heart-shaped cookies and let them go wild with decorations or try out this great adorable little Valentine’s Kiss cookies receipe by Rainy day Mum. Let them measure, mix, and decorate their cooking creations by themselves. After you can share the love and their masterpieces with their friends and family members. Not only this is a great way to bond and create memories but you will also be able to enjoy delicious treats together.
  3. Valentine’s Day Crafts: Embrace your creative spirit and jump in a variety of Valentine’s Day-themed projects. There are endless possibilities for creative expression from creating heart-shaped paper garlands to tissue paper flowers. They can make friendship bracelets or even love-themed bookmarks to give as a gift. You can even help them make “love bugs” using pom-poms and googly eyes, or paint rocks with heartwarming messages to share with friends and family.
  4. Love-themed Storytime: Snuggle up with your little ones and read heartwarming stories about love, friendship, and kindness. Choose books with Valentine’s Day themes or stories that celebrate the power of love in all its forms. Settle in for a cozy storytime session and share these meaningful moments. Choose books that celebrate the power of love and friendship like “I’ll Love You Till the Cows Come Home” by Kathryn Cristaldi or “The Day It Rained Hearts” by Felicia Bond . One of the good options is also Together: A First Conversation About Love By Megan Madison. After reading, open the discussion about the books and kindness, compassion, and appreciation for the special people in their lives.
  5. Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt: This is one of the ultimate Valentine’s Day activities for kids that will keep them occupied for hours. Hide small treats or love notes in various hiding spots around the house or backyard, and give the kids the clues to find them. It’s a fun and interactive way to keep them entertained. Last year we connected the scavenger hunt with our movie marathon. We tied it together with our movie marathon by hiding the popcorn, hot chocolate packets and mini marshmallows around the house. We even hid our pyjamas and fuzzy socks so we could get cozy during the movie. She kept getting more and more excited with every single item she found.
  6. Valentine’s Day Movie Marathon: Cozy up on the couch with a Valentine’s Day movie marathon featuring family-friendly favorites. From classic romances to animated adventures, there’s a movie for every taste. Our favorites are Trolls, Wall-E, True: Happy Hearts Day and oldies but goodies; The Little Rascals and The Parent Trap. These movies are perfect for any age and offer delightful tales of romance, adventure, and friendship. Pop some popcorn, snuggle together under blankets, and enjoy quality screen time together. Last year, to make it even more special we set up the projector in our room and three of us snuggled together in our bed.
  7. Heartfelt Acts of Kindness: While all of these Valentine’s Day Activities for kids teach them to embrace their feelings, this activity will encourage them to share them. By performing acts of kindness for others they will learn that true happiness comes through our connections to other people. Whether it’s writing thank-you notes to their teachers, delivering homemade treats to neighbors or creating care packages for elderly members of the neighborhood, fostering generosity and compassion is a priceless gift. Additionally, you can even suggest volunteering together as a family, for example by reading one of those love-themed books from earlier to shelter animals. This will help them to learn the importance of giving back and making a positive impact in their community.

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate love and friendship with these eight engaging Valentine’s Day activities for kids. From creating unique creations to spreading kindness and joy, each activity will captivate their hearts and imaginations. They also offer a unique opportunity to create treasured memories and strengthen family bonds. Embrace the spirit of Valentine’s Day by nurturing love, compassion, and connection, and watch as your little ones experience the magic of this special day in unforgettable ways.
