Kids Eating Healthy – How To Achieve That?

1. Don’t describe meals kids love as a ‘junk food’.
It’s a noxious concept and doesn’t really exist. You also don’t want to listen to someone who is critical of your taste.

2. Buy or make healthy versions of their favorite food.
Let them decide which tastes best. Rather than trying to change your kids, involve them in exploring a broad range of foods. Let them choose which they like more. Homemade hamburgers can be amazingly tasty.

3. Make healthy food sound fun.
Let’s be honest, salads are not fun. But pouring a bunch of healthy vegetables into a blender and pulverizing them is!Going to the grocery store is not fun for kids. Walking around a farmers market can be! Give your kid 10 dollars and let them choose fruits and veggies they want to buy.

4. Stock your house with easy healthy snacks and healthy desserts for kids.
If your kid wants to eat something and it’s not yet time for dinner, he can choose an apple or some other fruit he or she likes. If there is no unhealthy choices in the house, they will have to go for healthy food.

5. Cook together.
Cook together whenever that is possible. They can just watch or stir. You can read here about cooking activities for kids that we do in our home.

6. Cook with flavour.
Meals kids love are usually full of flavour. You can achieve that at home too. Use Garlic, curry, onion, mustard, balsamic vinegar etc. Don’t use everything at once 🙂 Introduce these flavours gently if they are unfamiliar with them.
